A Room with a View | Edward M. Forster
post image
Pickpick

What a treat! This book was such a joy to read. We start off with Lucy, (the prime character) being chaperoned by her much older cousin while visiting Florence. They are disappointed in the room they have at the pension because it doesn‘t provide a view. Enter in a man and his son, who offer to exchange rooms with them, and from there the story takes off.

“Just one of the 3,653 days of his sentence, from bell to bell. The extra three were for leap years.”

This book follows Ivan Denisovich Shukhov for a single day while he is serving a term in a Stalinist labor camp. Definitely recommend wearing a jacket and having a hot beverage nearby because it‘s gonna be cold! I could feel the chill of the Siberian winter when reading this from the warmth and comfort of my own house! 🥶

ChelseaM6010 This was my #Bookspin read for the month of February. Also: #1001Books#RoryGilmoreReadingChallenge (edited) 2y

Start Spinning | Maggie Casey

Whew, Litsy was down for a hot minute and all I could think about was how everyone NEEDS TO KNOW THE NUMBERS! 😂 But it's back up and running, so here are February's picks without further delay!! Our #BookSpin this month is TEN and our #DoubleSpin is TWENTY!!

My next post will be the #BookSpinBingo card. I am NOT tagging anyone on that post!! If you want to bingo, please just check my profile for the card. ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) This saves me having to double tag everyone/keep track of who wants to bingo and who doesn‘t!!

I use the same tag list for the entire year, so if you would like to be added or removed, please just let me know. It takes me a while to tag everyone (there are over 200 of you!!!) so I will add “FINISHED” to the last tag batch so you know whether or not I missed you. If I did, it was completely inadvertent. Sometimes I just spell someone‘s ⬇
2y
MatchlessMarie My first thought was oh no BookSpin finally broke Litsy 😂 2y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) username wrong. Below are a few housekeeping items that I post every month (including the link to the 2023 Google Form for tracking your reads for the giveaway!!). Please let me know if you have any questions. Happy reading!! ⬇ 2y
See All 63 Comments
TheAromaofBooks 1. Remember, this is a no-pressure challenge!! You can read one or both of these books. You can bail on them. You can bail on the whole challenge and try again next month. Whatever works!! This is supposed to be fun not stressful!! ⬇ 2y
TheAromaofBooks 2. I do have a giveaway at the end of the year. Every BookSpin or DoubleSpin book completed counts as an entry!! In the past, I have tracked these myself, but for 2022 YOU are in charge of tracking your own entries!! To help with this process, I have created a Google Form that can be found here - https://forms.gle/tc6U17AuVw4ssG2v8- You can use this Form two different ways: You can update it throughout the year OR you can wait and fill in ⬇ 2y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) all the information at the end of the year. If you want to be entered in the giveaway you MUST use this form. However, if you do NOT want to be entered in the giveaway but still want to use the form for organizational purposes, I have set it up so that the personal info/address blank is OPTIONAL - so you can use the form without submitting your name/address. If you do not care about the giveaway you do NOT have to use this form at all ⬇ 2y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) There is more information about how the form works when you click on the link and go to the form because I LOVE overexplaining things!!! You are also ALWAYS welcome to ask me questions!!

4. Even though I don't HAVE to see your reviews I love reading them!! So please feel free to tag me in any and all BookSpin reivews!!

5. For the giveaway, DNFs do count!! The goal for #BookSpin is to get a book off your TBR, so if you decide not to ⬇
2y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) finish it, it's still off the TBR and still counts as a completion in my book!!

6. If you do not finish your #BookSpin/#DoubleSpin book this month it is STILL ELIGIBLE for a giveaway entry as long as you complete it sometime in 2023!! There is space in the form for you both to put down what book you are SUPPOSED to read & then to check off which books you DID read! ⬇

2y
TheAromaofBooks 7. Everyone is welcome to join this challenge!! If you wanted tagged & I missed you, it was completely inadvertent!! Please just let me know that you want to be added to the tag list. You can also let me know if you want to be removed - no hard feelings!! Feel free to jump in & out of this challenge as needed. Also, obviously, getting tagged doesn't mean you HAVE to actually participate!!

TheAromaofBooks 8 & final (FINALLY) - While I don't have time to reply to all of the comments to this post, I do read every one and love seeing which books got picked for you!! I do respond to any direct questions or confusion, so please feel free to ask away if something doesn't make sense or you need some clarifications. Thank you all so much for your enthusiasm, and happy reading!!! 2y
TheAromaofBooks @MatchlessMarie - I was blitzing through my tags before posting the numbers, and thought maybe I had finally just reached my quote of allowed “woohoos“ 😂 2y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Looks like I'm (hopefully) prioritizing Alright, Alright, Alright and an Afrofuturism book this month. Let's do it! 2y
AsYouWish I am still working on my list! Unexpected ARCs arrived in my inbox this morning and I think I have a couple more coming, but not sure when, ugh (but not really because who doesn‘t love to wake up to ARCs in their inbox!!!). 2y
IamIamIam Haha, thanks for working through the stress, Sarah!!! My spins this month are Published in the 1990s & Fiction: Male Author. I'll have to check the piles when I get home today!!! 2y
claudiuo Woohoo! Just what I was waiting for. Thank you so much! 2y
Singout I think this is the third time “Seven” has come up! This month I can do it! 2y
Read-y_Picker Thank you Sarah! Imagining today as movie Groundhog's Day where we get to start off with fresh bookspin numbers day after day... sigh. 2y
BeckyWithTheGoodBooks Whoohoo! My #bookspin book is Magpie and my #doublespin is Tell Me Everything!! 2y
PuddleJumper Mine are TBR books. Thanks! 2y
mrsmarch @TheAromaofBooks I don‘t have the 2023 completion Google form link — can you repost it for us? 2y
mrsmarch @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick what a good month for an Afrofuturism pick! 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 2y
BookishMadHatter Woo-hoo! Thanks @TheAromaofBooks , I love filling in new journal pages lol. Now if only everyday life would stop being a jerk and let me read more .. 2y
ChasingOm It‘s so funny that the spin and double spin keep being 10 apart. It means my spin and double spin are the same again this month. 😂 2y
BarbaraJean Hahahaaa… I would be lost without my BookSpin numbers first thing on the 2nd of the month!! My #BookSpin is the first half of my next book for #ChunksterChallenge2023 (The Agony and the Ecstasy, which has been on my shelf since the early 2000s), and #DoubleSpin is Thursday Murder Club, an #AuldLangSpine pick. Excited about both spins! (But who knows when Thursday Murder will come in from the library… I‘m like 200th on the list 😂) 2y
kellyann28 Yay my #bookspin is We Deserve Monuments and #doublespin is The Wrong Kind of Weird! 2y
Soubhiville I got a little worried earlier too- what would we do without Litsy for a day 😱. Going to check my list right now. Happy Dance! 2y
DieAReader 💜📚🤓Perfect post to wake up to! 2y
ChaoticMissAdventures So excited! Sarah, can you add me to the tag list? Thanks! 2y
kstadt929 Oh my goodness I thought it was just my Litsy and I was freaking out I wouldn‘t know the numbers 😂 On my way to go check my list to see what my books are ❤️ Thank you!! (edited) 2y
Deblovestoread My BookSpin in a “Booked23” prompt and DoubleSpin is “SeriesLove2023”. I‘m loving having a more open bingo board! 2y
FelinesAndFelonies 10. Tell Me Everything 20. The Fortunes of Jaded Women. 2y
julieclair I will be reading The Time Traveller‘s Guide to Regency Britain and The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels. 😀 2y
julieclair @Deblovestoread I like your idea of a “category” instead of a specific book. I may give that a try next month. 2y
ChelseaM6010 Woohoo! Looks like my bookspin will be another #RoryGilmoreReadingChallenge book! And my doublespin is The Sanatorium!! 🥳 2y
Clwojick Woohoo! 💖 2y
TheAromaofBooks @julieclair - I really enjoyed the Wisteria Society. It's absolutely ridiculous, but somehow it works! 2y
MeganAnn 🎉 10. The Hurricane, the #littensloveromance read for February so that‘s perfect. 20. Is my “Books from Mom” category which gives me a little flexibility as she‘s given me quite a variety. 2y
Clare-Dragonfly Yay! My authors to read this month are Margo Lanagan and A. R. Capetta! 2y
Larkken Hah! My BS this month may be a DNF - easy-peasy! 😅 2y
Librarybelle I have Madly, Deeply and a #Booked2023 selection! 2y
Littlewolf1 I think I feel off your list… I was not tagged 2y
TheAromaofBooks @Littlewolf1 - Sorry about that!! I have you on my list, but sometimes Litsy gets wonky about tags!! 2y
staci.reads Tagged is Bookspin, and Doublespin is The Art of Gathering 2y
Bookzombie Thank you for doing this every month! Tagged is my BS and my DS is Poison Study. 2y
Littlewolf1 @TheAromaofBooks no worries, I just stalked you until you posted the numbers… lol 😊 2y

This book has a lot of great messages and the author does a good job showing how connected we all are and that everything happens for a reason. With that said, I‘m definitely in the middle with it—neither loved it or hated it.
This was my first #bookspin read of 2023 and also a #RoryGilmoreReadingChallenge book!

Um, not really sure how to take this one. On one hand, pretty much nailed the personality of a 6 year old. Other hand, I can‘t imagine reading this to a child and they being very interested. I could be wrong, but... #rorygilmorereadingchallenge #bookspinbingo

Butterfinger My child, currently 9, loves Eloise. I have read those books a million times. In our copy, there is a page that opens out to show Eloise's map or journey of the elevator and floors. We have spent hours on just that page. Nahnee!!! 4y
Sarahreadstoomuch @Butterfinger this had that too - which was pretty cool. I‘m glad that kids still like it! It‘s a classic for sure, but I wondered. 4y

I‘ve decided to take on the Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge! There‘s over 300 books on her list, so I‘ll be reading an hour of the book after I finish the books I‘m actively reading for my other challenges. Excited to start this one! #rorygilmorereadingchallenge

I wasn‘t sure how to feel about this book going in since it was never assigned reading. Having read The Catcher in the Rye not long ago, I was a bit concerned that it would be another angsty teenage cliche. I was pleasantly surprised by Charlie. Bits of the story were out there and some issues were barely discussed but overall I still found that I really enjoyed it. #rorygilmorechallenge #rorygilmorereadinglist #rorygilmorereadingchallenge

Very clever and silly; it was a fun little read. I‘m not sure it deserves all the gushing I‘ve seen/heard about it, but I‘d say it‘s worth knowing about. #rorygilmorereadingchallenge

I never had to read this one in school but wow. What a deep read for a book that was barely over 100 pages. My heart broke at the ending but I could understand George‘s choice, especially played out against Candy and his dog. Definitely recommend. #rorygilmorereadinglist #rorygilmorereadingchallenge #maymadness #booktomovie

Andrew65 Love this! Short but highly effective! 6y
Kaila-ann @Andrew65 agreed! One of my new favorites! 6y
Andrew65 @Kaila-ann For different reasons but I also loved (edited) 6y
Kaila-ann @Andrew65 I haven‘t read that one yet but it‘s on my wishlist. I‘m a little behind on some of classics 😳 lol. 6y
Andrew65 @Kaila-ann Me too in general, but these are two of his I read a lot of years ago. Both stayed with me, yet never read any others. 🤷‍♂️ 6y
