Moving onto my next book for #ChristmasCozy @Peanutnine
Phillipa Ashley doesn‘t usually disappoint at this time of year.
First book finished for #ChristmasCozy. @Peanutnine
Sarah Morgan does it again with this book. A quite inauspicious start, but you soon learn to love the main character, and feel sorry for her earlier life. This book had all the feels for Christmas and a few 😭 moments. I do love her books and this was right up there. Plenty of romance and new family situations. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️

Here we go with the #12Booksof2024.
January was a tricky month to choose one. In the end I went for The Armour of Light by Ken Follett.
Notable other mentions : Diva by Daisy Goodwin, The Appeal by Janice Hallet, The Family Remains by Lisa Jewell, The Poet by Michael Connelly. A good reading month!
Christmas Day sees the start of the 5th 12 books of the year. The aim is to post your favourite book of each month on each of the 12 days of Christmas starting with January on Christmas Day, finishing with December on the twelfth day (5th January).
Always love seeing these posts and gives us all reading material for 2025, because of course we don‘t have enough books.
Please use the hashtag #12Booksof2024 and tag me into your posts.
Starting off #CozyChristmas by reading the latest Christmas offering by Sarah Morgan. These are usually excellent reads. @Peanutnine
Sharing this for @Peanutnine
A perfect Christmas Readathon over the next three days for all those that love a good Readathon, and enjoys all those Christmas cozies.
Overall I enjoyed this book. Loved the characters and an interesting plot line, although a bit of a strange ending to this one. At points early on I found the writing a bit stilted but that may be with the introduction to the series. I felt this got better as the book progressed. I look forward to getting to the second one from the series which I have just reserved from the library.

2 former police detectives are murdered over Christmas and this sets up an all encompassing investigation. Was it linked to former cases or someone closer to home? Loved this one.

6th book finished in December.
This was an interesting and fun novella that told Jacob Marley‘s early story through the eyes of his sister, and has a ghostly dimension to it (as you‘d expect) towards the end of the book. I really enjoyed this story which was a good prequel to A Christmas Carol. Sadly the author died whilst writing this story. A fun and engaging Christmas read.

Started the latest book in DI James Walker Series, The Killer in the Cold. A murder mystery series set in Cumbria, with the murders taking place over the Christmas Season. Perfect December reading, and an excellent series.
This is book 5 and already got me hooked into the story line, and thinking who the murderer could be and why. Thoroughly recommend this series.

5th book finished in December.
This was a very engaging read. A woman is recovering from a bad marriage, and is looking to renovate a run down hotel in Paris, before Christmas, which was part of the divorce settlement. A good slow burning romance but also has a literacy connection with what they discover at the hotel. Really enjoyable book. Recommended.

4th book finished in December.
I love this series and this keeps up the same standard, when 4 fox hunters go missing in bad weather on Christmas Eve. Hunting is a key theme throughout this book. Love the characters in this series and the twists and turns the book takes. Thoroughly recommend this book and series.

Third book Finished in December.
This was a very enjoyable audiobook read by Tony Robinson. A good story with interesting themes developed through it, but was disappointed to find it was an abridged version. This should be more transparent - don‘t understand why books are abridged! #AuthorAMonth @Soubhiville
A good standalone book.

My fourth book finished #20in4 🥳
I absolutely love the Patrik Hedstrom series and this one didn‘t disappoint, this one thoroughly hooked me in. Both storylines were excellent and trying to work out what was going on. There were plenty of twists and surprises long the way. I couldn‘t put this one down. Bad news is I am now up to date in the series and have to wait for a new book. @kspenmoll

Started a new audiobook, Nation by Terry Pratchett, for #AuthoraMonth. This one is read by Tony Robinson (of Blackadder fame) - a cunning plan!
Look forward to listening to this and not really sure what to expect. Wasn‘t on my #20in4 plan, but I am ahead of schedule.

3rd book finished for #20in4
A fun and engaging read, a good way to start the month. Always seem to enjoy stories by this author. Loved the main characters in this story, and their slowly developing story.
#ReadAway2024 @DieAReader @Ghabi4Roses My 205th book for this year.
On day 3 of #20in4 I finished one book (Four Weddings and a Christmas) and read for 7 hours 8 mins (the best for many months). First time in a while I‘ve totally got lost in a book (The Cuckoo).
Summary of the 3 days :
Books Read : 3
Pages Read : 1114 Pages
Time Read : 17 hrs 49 mins (well on track to get to my target of 20 hours).

A much better reading month in November, where I started to get back on a better reading routine, but still a big shortfall compared to my reading last November.
20 books read
7552 pages read (251 pages a day)
Favourite Reads :
Sisters Under the Sun - Heather Morris
The Borgia Portrait - David Hewson
The Templar Secret - Scott Mariani
#November #ReadAway2024 @DieAReader @Ghabi4Roses
Starting The Cuckoo, book 11 in the Patrik Hedstrom series by Camilla Lackberg. I always enjoy the books in this series, which are excellently written and well translated.

2nd book finished for #20In4
A very cleverly written book by Janice Hallett. My favourite would still be the Appeal, but this was another very good read with some twists and shocks as you read the book. Love how it is told through messages and course assignments. I would recommend this.
#ReadAway2024 @DieAReader @Ghabi4Roses.
Day 1 of #20in4
Finished 1 book, and read for 4 hrs 29 mins, slightly off the 5 hours per day needed to get to 20 hrs. Time to catch up over the weekend hopefully. Altogether read 277 pages.
#ReadAway2024 #SeriesLove2024 @Dieareader @Ghabi4Roses @TheSpineView
Started a new audiobook for #20in4, albeit a day early! This will launch my Christmas themed reading. Phillipa Ashley usually writes good stories.
#ReadAway2024 @DieAReader @Ghabi4Roses
Started the latest Janice Hallett book for #20in4.
Love the way her books are told through online messages, text messages, etc. A great way to build a context for a mystery and the books usually build one as they go along, and all about the interplay between the characters. Thoroughly recommend The Appeal.
#ReadAway2024 @DieAReader @Ghabi4Roses
Finished my first book for #20in4, although I was well through it before the Readathon started.
Possibly because I haven‘t read the rest of the series I found this difficult to get into, and like most novellas not enough detail and depth in the book.
#ReadAway2024 @DieAReader @Ghabi4Roses
After a time away from Litsy, I am back and relaunching the #20in4 Readathon which takes place over the last weekend of each month.
A very informal event if you haven‘t taken part before. All welcome 😊. The aim is to read either 20 hours or 20 chapters over the 4 days of the Readathon, or you can even set your own goal. To join just post below & do a post by Friday of the books you hope to read and/pr your target. Time to boost your reading! 😍
Started a new audiobook with The Beach Cafe by Lucy Diamond.
An enjoyable start so far and am enjoying the narrator and storyline, a feel good factor.
#ReadAway2024 @Dieareader @Ghabi4roses
Started a new book, and I always enjoy books by Margaret Dickinson so hope to enjoy this. #ReadAway2024 @DieAReader @Ghabi4Roses
A palate cleanser after the crime books, the mysteries and the all-action thrillers.
I actually finished a book, first one in days. This book has sat on my physical shelf for years so helping clear off my TBR
This was an overall enjoyable story, possibly a soft pick, but at times I felt it was overly convoluted & therefore the book was longer than it needed to be.
A few personal surprises for Bosch along the way. I find that whilst I enjoy the Bosch books it gets a bit boring with the runs in with Internal Affairs #SeriesLove2024
Thanks to everyone for all the messages sent to me over the past few months - felt I needed to explain my absence as above. Felt I owed it to people who had sent messages, and the many friends I have on here who I have missed enormously.
Trying my best to try and get back into some normal routines and re-establish the Litsy habit!
Each journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step and that is the step I am taking now. 😊
Been missing in action whilst I dealt with some life stuff, but today am launching the #20in4 Readathon which starts tomorrow. For anyone who has already entered Friday, or needs more time to organise, feel free to do the Readathon from Saturday - Tuesday.
As always very informal, all welcome, and aim to either read 20 hours, or 20 chapters over the four days, or even set your own target. I‘m hoping it helps me get back in a reading habit.
Really pleased with how #AwesomeApril went, especially as I went into it without setting any goals for once, and just attempted to read as much as I could.
I finished 9 books over the 10 days, and almost finished a tenth book. I managed over the 10 days to read 3739 pages. This was helped as I was without Internet connection for a few days. There‘s a lesson here 😂
Thanks to everyone who played along and some great reading totals out there!
Well that‘s April done, a much better reading month.
26 books read, 7 physical books, 8 ebooks, 11 audiobooks. Close to 10,000 pages read and 328 pages on average a day.
Water and Earth by John Boyne
No Sweet Sorrow by Denzil Meyrick
None of this is True by Lisa Jewell
Devil You Know by Neil Lancaster
Murder on the Clyde by Daniel Sellers
A Stranger in the Family by Jane Casey
Stop Them Dead by Peter James
I got up to date on 5 series.
Finished my fourth book for #AwesomeApril.
This is the first book in the Archibald the Grim Series by J R Tomlin. Quite a short but very readable book covering the early part of the life of The Black Douglas‘s illegitimate son. The Black Douglas (Sir James Douglas) was a staunch ally of Robert the Bruce. It‘s set between 1338 and 1346 as the young King David and his allies attempt to get back control of Scotland from the English.
3rd book finished for #AwesomeApril, thanks to this great audiobook recommendation by @kwmg40. An excellent audiobook read by one of my favourite narrators, Simon Vance.
This book does a good job of launching this fantasy series and I look forward to moving onto book 2 in the series. Even better it is available as a free download if you are a member of Audible.

Just finished my second book for #AwesomeApril
The latest book in the excellent Maeve Kerrigan Series. Quite a complex murder mystery with plenty of angst and taking forward of the Josh and Maeve story. Was feeling quite upbeat then the epilogue. Now reeling with that ending! 😳😱😫🫣😢🤯😭 I need the next book now. What has Jane Casey done!
Totally recommend this series.
My first book finished for #AwesomeApril Readathon
This is the latest book in the excellent DCI Daley Series by Denzil Meyrick. As always these are great reads, as much for the main characters and their interplay, as well as the crime investigation. I throughly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys high quality crime fiction and / or books set in remote areas of Scotland. One of my favourite series. #SeriesLove2024 @TheSpineView
