What are You Reading?
What are You Reading?: The World Market and Indian Literary Production | Pavithra Narayanan
70 posts | 2 to read
This book offers a material critique on various aspects of Indian literary production and its reception by its audiences. Taking a historical and contemporary lineage into account, the author variously discusses the social, political, and economic factors that impact upon and determine choices in the publishing world. Examining the constructions of the archive of postcolonial works by Indian writers in relation to nationalist histories, language wars, and the relationship between economic policies and literature, the book forcefully argues that why we read what we read is more than coincidental. Placing the rights of minoritized and disadvantaged communities at the heart of the analysis of Indias decolonization and industrial projects, the book attempts to address not just inequalities in the publishing world, but also social inequities engendered by global capitalism. Offering a critique of academics who act as cultural gatekeepers of intellectual production, the book finally underscores the disconnect between the academic theory and practice of scholars of postcolonial studies who argue against inequality and marginalization while simultaneously supporting hegemonic academic practices. This book will be of interest to scholars of development studies, cultural studies, literature, postcolonial studies, economics, and those studying globalization, as well as the interested lay reader.

It's that time of the month again - Amazon First Reads. What are you going to pick? I'm ridiculously indecisive this time 🤔

BeansPage @Karisa agreed 👍😃👍 5y
BeansPage @Carolyn11215 how do you like it so far? 5y
Carolyn11215 @TheReadingMermaid Seanan McGuire is one of my fave authors. B&N Sci-fi and Fantasy Blog said “Sentences were invented so Seanan McGuire could write them” and I wholeheartedly agree. Love her fantasy! Her characters are always broken in some way so highly relatable despite the fantastical elements. 5y
BeansPage @Carolyn11215 yes I have read one of her books before and I found it to be very good. 5y
OrangeMooseReads @TheReadingMermaid I‘m not far in and the author is mostly covering what previous historians have said about the indigenous peoples of the americas before white men showed up and it‘s super frustrating what they believed and what we have been taught and how absurd it was 5y
BeansPage @OrangeMooseReads OMG that sounds super frustrating! 😠 Kudos to you for sticking it out and not DNF 5y
OrangeMooseReads @TheReadingMermaid it is. I‘m only 50+ pages in and you have to know what was previously believed in order to know and better understand what is now been proven. At least that‘s what I tell myself 😊 5y

BeansPage @TheSpineView any good? 😃 6y
rretzler The Martian Chronicles is classic sci-fi by Ray Bradbury! I read it long, long ago and thought it was time for a reread.

How are you liking The Hangman's Daughter? I read it last year and while I enjoyed some parts of it, others fell flat. I still can't decide if I want to continue with the series or not.
6y
TheSpineView @TheReadingMermaid Loving it! I had already read (twice) On the Island by the author and loved it too. 6y
BeansPage @rretzler I am enjoying it especially since Kindle has made a version that has animation in it. I found that to be a very nice touch. It's like the book is Magic ✨ LOL but we are halfway through the book and I'm a little concerned because the daughter hasn't really played a big role in this book so far and considering the fact that she holds the title of the book I'm kind of wondering about that 🤔 6y
BeansPage @TheSpineView that's awesome! It is so wonderful when you find things that you love in books 💗💗 6y
Freespirit I am reading The Overstory. I can tell it's going to be a book I love!! 6y
rretzler I must admit it seemed to be more about the Hangman than his daughter, but she does come into it more as the book goes on. 6y

riversong153 @TheReadingMermaid Really loving Pachinko. It‘s a real page turner. Great character development and an interesting story so far!! 6y
bewareofwords @TheReadingMermaid Yes I am! I was out of town last Friday, but I‘m keeping up with the reading and I‘ll be able to participate this week. :) I‘m liking Good Omens! I wasn‘t totally sure what to expect from it when I started, but it‘s been good. 6y

BeansPage @MoonWitch94 I have actually read that one and I loved it so much. I loved the part where they think somebody is watching them as they are painting (I think, it's been a while) it totally creeped me out and made me look over my shoulder! What are your thoughts on it? 😃 6y
Beatlefan129 @TheReadingMermaid I love it! I can totally understand why this is one of those classic novels that is still popular today. It is eerily relevant 6y
BeansPage @Beatlefan129 really? It has been on my to-be-read list for forever. I might have to bump it up a few notches 😉 6y

#WhatAreYouReading #Wednesday

positivelybrianareads I‘m reading Six of Crows and Renegades ❤️ 6y
jessinikkip It is about a woman named Bess, who is the mistress of Henry VIII while married to his first wife. She gives him a son, but they arent married so he cant take the throne 6y
See All 46 Comments
SexyCajun The Cruel Prince Also Kat Makris Greek Mafia series 6y
BeansPage @positivelybrianareads how are you enjoying Six of Crows? I've been wondering whether I should get into that one or not. 6y
BeansPage @MommyOfTwo oooo 😗 how do you like it so far? Hercule Poirot is such a dynamic character. 6y
BeansPage @jessinikkip hmm, interesting. I'm wondering about the title. If her son is unable to take the throne then how is it the Queen's rival? 6y
BeansPage @SexyCajun oh the Greek mafia series sounds interesting. How are you liking it so far? 6y
positivelybrianareads @TheReadingMermaid admittedly it took a while for me to get into because I felt like a lot of characters were being introduced too fast so I had a hard time making a connection. Now that I‘m further into the book though I‘m real enjoying it 6y
MommyOfTwo I‘m not very far yet and it‘s my first Agatha Christie Book so not sure yet. To comment on Six of Crows, I loved that book so much! I read the sequel right after. 6y
NovelGirl82 I‘m back at work today, so I‘m reading charts 🤷‍♀️ 6y
BeansPage @positivelybrianareads that's great to hear. I have been thinking about getting into this book for a while now. But have been teeter-totter and because I've heard both good things and bad things. 6y
positivelybrianareads @TheReadingMermaid my best friend had the same experience as me . She originally didn‘t like the book when she first started but she‘s already finished it and she‘s in loooove lol 6y
BeansPage @MommyOfTwo what turned me off about that book was that Hercule Poirot while being a very interesting character I found him to also be a little rude and conceited. That may just be my conception of it however. 6y
BeansPage @NovelGirl82 awe I'm sorry sweetie. I feel your pain. I am reading textbooks today 😩 6y
BeansPage @positivelybrianareads oh good that's wonderful to hear. I may have to add this to my TBR stack! Thank you for sharing with me I really appreciate it 🤗😘 6y
SexyCajun @TheReadingMermaid it‘s humorous good cozy mysteries. These books have a typo or two every now and then but I don‘t let it bother me 6y
BeansPage @SexyCajun that's awesome! I may have to look into these. Thank you for sharing with me sweetie 😘🤗 6y
Emilymdxn Tagged book and Black Leopard, Red Wolf by Marlon James - two quite deep high concept odd books but both absolutely wonderful so far 6y
greenhairdontcare The tagged book plus Why I Am No Longer Talking To White People About Race & Boys Will Be Boys. 6y
jessinikkip @TheReadingMermaid because everyone speculated he was going to leave his wife for her since she proved she could produce a son. The queens kept falling out of favor because all theyd give him were girls 6y
SexyCajun @TheReadingMermaid oh I meant to say that you can compare to Stephanie Plum. Plum is from the 90s but Kat Makris is more current. 🖤🥰 Hope you like them! 6y
BeansPage @Carolyn11215 how are you enjoying that one? I've heard a lot of good things about that book. 6y
BeansPage @Emilymdxn wow they sound wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing sweetie. I really appreciate it 😘 6y
BeansPage @greenhairdontcare how are you enjoying your books so far? 6y
BeansPage @jessinikkip oh I see now. Okay okay I can dig it. You really are on a kick with Henry the VIII aren't you? ❤️😊❤️ 6y
BeansPage @SexyCajun thank you so much love! I'm sure I will. They have been added to my TBR list ❤️🤗🤗❤️ 6y
Carolyn11215 @TheReadingMermaid took me a few chapters to get into the swing of the book but now I‘m really enjoying it! 6y
jessinikkip @TheReadingMermaid I am! I read one really good book about Thomas More and hos time in Henrys court and now I find myself stuck reading them all. Oh well, at least its clearing my TBR 6y
BeansPage @Carolyn11215 that is so wonderful to hear. Adding this to my TBR list. Thank you for sharing with me sweetheart ❤️🤗❤️ 6y
BeansPage @jessinikkip haha then that's a good thing! Right? 6y
jessinikkip @TheReadingMermaid with a list of about 200 books to read, even reading one is a good thing haha 😄😄 6y
BeansPage @jessinikkip LOL 😋 I totally agree and I feel your pain. I have 580 books on my TBR list. 😲😲😲 6y
jessinikkip Lol I stopped counting at 200 and that was last october. Ive gotten so many other books... Ive given up and decided 200 is a not quite so overwhelming large number 6y
BeansPage @jessinikkip hahahaha right you are! I don't mind the large number as long as I can keep track. Hence the reason why I have Goodreads 😉 6y
NovelGirl82 After work I read a bit of Two Can Keep a Secret and A Game of Thrones to make up for all of the charts that I was forced to read 😊 6y
Jee_HookedOnBookz Reading this tagged book. Good luck in your exams! 6y
BeansPage @NovelGirl82 I'm so glad you got some reading in sweetheart ❤️🤗❤️ 6y
BeansPage @Jee_HookedOnBookz thank you so much sweetie. I got an 85% on my final exam today so I'm rockin it so far 👍🏻😁👍🏻 hope you enjoy your book hun. 6y
greenhairdontcare @TheReadingMermaid I‘m enjoying all of them. Farenheit is the only fiction I‘m reading, & it is scaring me a little, just because I could see it really happening! 6y
Jee_HookedOnBookz @TheReadingMermaid yayyyyyyyy congratulations!!! How are you celebrating?? 6y
BeansPage @Jee_HookedOnBookz with a beer and a book my dear! 📘🍻😁 6y
Jee_HookedOnBookz @TheReadingMermaid woot woot! That's the best way! 👍🏼👍🏼❤️😀 6y

#WhatAreYouReading #Wednesday

cassareada Today I'm crocheting while binge watching Netflix. (All of my books are currently packed) 6y
BeansPage @cassiopia Awe man, that sucks ☹️ but I guess it's giving you a well-deserved break from reading for a while right? 6y
cassareada @TheReadingMermaid It does suck, I packed them too early lol. But I have a lot of yarn that I don't want to take with me so hopefully I can whip up a blanket or two over the next month. 6y

BeansPage @cassiopia ooooo 😗 please post pics when you're done 💕💕💕 6y
cassareada @TheReadingMermaid oh of course I will 😍 6y
vaanshere My reaction... 6y
kellyann28 Reading this! 6y
Anitareads Almost finished with this one. 6y
BeansPage @kellyann28 interesting, and why does he stay more than one or two nights? 6y
BeansPage @Anitareads what is that one about? 6y
madamereadsalot1 I'm loving this book. I'm listening to it, and then going back and rereading it, because I like it that much. It's short, and I'm almost done with it. Would have been already if it weren't for the "fine tooth comb" listening. 6y
kellyann28 @TheReadingMermaid She intended to gather up information for one or two days to basically ghost write a book. I haven't gotten to what makes her stay longer but the family is creepy lol. 6y
BeansPage @madamereadsalot1 wow that one sounds really interesting. Is there a lot of action in it? 6y
BeansPage @kellyann28 sounds like my kind of book. I might have to stack that one 😁 6y
Anitareads Heroine inherits her grandmother's cottage and decides to renovate it with a help of her childhood friend and crush (who is in construction)...slow burn romance... I liked her previous book (tagged) a lot better, this one is just kind of "meh" for me. 6y
madamereadsalot1 @TheReadingMermaid not really, though it does talk about assasinations. Sometimes relatively graphically. Each chapter changes character. So each chapter has a different voice and a different perspective of a same, yet different story. It's one of those kind of rambling stories without a real plot. I love those kinds, just about the characters. 6y
BeansPage @Anitareads that's cool though. I like those kinds of books too. Kind of like those Hallmark romance movies. Not really great in any way but good little stories. 😊 6y
BeansPage @madamereadsalot1 OMG it sounds like it would be action-packed! LOL and it sounds cool but I can't do books that ramble on with no plot. IDK why I cannot do it. I have just never been able to. So my hat's off to you girl!! 😁🎩 6y
bookaholic1 Snowing outside, so curling up with my cat and reading THE FRIENDS WE KEEP. By Susan Mallery. 6y
BeansPage @bookaholic1 how are you enjoying it so far? 6y
madamereadsalot1 @TheReadingMermaid it's really interesting, there may be a plot but I just don't know it yet. Lol! So far it's seems how this particular family's lives were affected during this time period in Bolivia, & how vastly different life actually was for them all. The connections made w/ other people & the breakdown of the relationships in the family & the changes developed in each person. I love learning people's stories, so it's def up my alley. 6y
bookaholic1 Just started it😊 6y
BeansPage @madamereadsalot1 wow you make it sound like such an awesome book girl! I may have to pick it up and try it 😊 I'm just a total sucker for a good story. 6y
BeansPage @bookaholic1 please let me know 😋 6y
BeansPage @Elma how are you liking it so far? 6y
Elma @TheReadingMermaid The Wrath & The Dawn is a little slow so far, but I'm not that far into it. Personality Types is really good, but very academic, so it feels like it's taking me forever to read. 6y
BeansPage @Elma Personality Types does sound like kind of a heavier read but it sounds extremely interesting. It might be one I might have to pick up. Psychology is one of my most favorite subjects to self study. 6y
Elma @TheReadingMermaid It is very interesting. This is the second book I've read on the enneagram (although I've read lots of different websites and apps) and it's so much more in depth than the first one I read. Although the first one was a great intro. One of my reading goals for this year is to read one book a month on it, because so many in our circle of friends use it. Plus, I find it fascinating. 6y
BeansPage @Elma stacked ✔️ 😁 6y

Astroneman Outlander 6y
DHill I‘m listening to Where the Crawdads Sing and reading The Witch Elm. 6y
sblbooks For a mgbuddy read 6y
BeansPage @Carolyn11215 how are you enjoying Harry Potter? And will you be with us for our first discussion on the 31st? 6y
Carolyn11215 @thereadingmermaid, this is a reread for me of the 1st book and I might love it even more the 2nd time around. Will try to be there for discussion. Looking forward to watching the movie again as well! 6y
BeansPage @Dragon @BookishShelly @Astroneman @DHill @EleniKara @sblbooks @Meaw_catlady how are you enjoying your books so far? Tell me a little bit about them. 😃 6y
Meaw_catlady I‘m enjoying it ! Not as much as Outlander but there are some interesting things going on and I‘m craving more ! 6y
BeansPage @Carolyn11215 wonderful! Don't forget you can always scroll back through the news feed or onto my page and join in the conversation at any time 😉 we would love to see you there 🤗 6y
BeansPage @Meaw_catlady oooo 😗 that sounds like a good read 💕 6y
Dragon So far it‘s fast paced and I like the full cast audiobook so far. It‘s an epistolary format reminds me of 6y
BeansPage @Dragon oh that sounds good! I might have to check both of those out 😁 6y
Minispok Reading Batman: Nightwalker and The Calculating Stars 😊 6y
BeansPage @Minispok oh how cool! How are they so far? Should I add that Batman to my TBR list? 6y
toric The Tent the Bucket and Me by Emma Kennedy. I'm only about 20% through but it seems ok so far. I'm finishing Cunk on Everything on hardback and though its funny in places theres a lot of filler 6y
BeansPage @toric awe that sucks honey. It irks me when books are like that with just a bunch of filler and no substance. How are the other two books? 6y
EleniKara I am really enjoying it, my first time reading true crime rather than listening/watching but it‘s this one woman‘s search for the golden state killer and just very suspenseful but also dark and interesting 6y
BeansPage @EleniKara oh that sounds really good too! I left true crime novels that don't just sit and spit out a bunch of information. I like the ones that actually have a narrative and a plot to them. Have you ever read The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule? 6y
EleniKara No I haven‘t but I‘ve heard very good things and been meaning to. 6y
BeansPage @EleniKara oh I highly recommend reading it. It is honestly one of the best true crime novels I have ever read in my life. It's Ann Rule's story about how she actually knew Ted Bundy revolving around the Ted Bundy case with the murders he committed the trials his escapes and finally his execution. It is a really really good book and told very well. 6y
ShananigansReads I am reading (tagged) though I‘m not really enjoying it. I‘m on 8 % in so I‘ll stick it out a bit longer. 6y
ShananigansReads I am listening to (tagged) and enjoying it immensely. Almost finished. 6y
Astroneman I‘m reading the third book of Outlander.... it‘s not good like the first and the second book of the serie 6y
BeansPage @Bookjunkie57 how come you're not enjoying the first book? Is there something about the book you just don't like? Or is it just not clicking with you? 6y
BeansPage @Astroneman yes that is the problem that I have with series books. I so desperately want to finish them once I start them but the books preceding the first and second are usually not as good as the others. Or maybe I just set my standards too high 🤷🏻‍♀️ 6y
ShananigansReads Main character goes missing in Vegas for a few hours and no one even looked for her. Then they spend a lot of time giving her 💩 because of how she looks with a hangover. It‘s apparently a trigger for me. In my mind she may have been roofied and kidnapped. But she‘s fine so I‘m taking my over-dramatics and moving on. 6y
Peaceful_Reader I just finished Black Girls must die exhausted by Jayne Allen. Good. 6y
Soubhiville I‘ve got several books going: Good Omens, The Book of Dust- La Belle Sauvage, and Don‘t Call Me Princess. 6y
BeansPage @Bookjunkie57 😳 I think that would get to me too. I don't like books that under play things like being roofied and kidnapped. But you are enjoying your other book correct? 6y
BeansPage @Peaceful_Reader @Soubhiville how are you enjoying your books so far? 6y
ShananigansReads Yes The Paper Magician is a wonderful adventure. I‘m happy it‘s a series cause that means I won‘t have to let go of this world just yet. 6y
BeansPage @Bookjunkie57 LOL 😋 aren't series great? 6y
TheSpineView I have never read The Devinche Code. Currently reading Head On by John Scalzi and Ensnare by Leah Moyes 6y
BeansPage @TheSpineView I have never read it either. This will be my first time reading this specific book or anything by Dan Brown. So far I like it though. How are you enjoying your current reads? 6y
BeansPage @Redwritinghood oh that one looks good. I may have to stack that! 💕 6y
CherylC I‘m just starting Bridge of Clay by Markus Zusak. 6y
SailorMoon And here I am, bugging you as asked! ? I loved "The Da Vinci Code"! I read it in HS, and I remember finishing my test in a heartbeat and spending the remaining part of the class reading it ? I am on "Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistle Stop Cafe", but my troubled eye is really bothering me today... so no reading for me ? 6y
BeansPage @SailorMoon hey their sweetness. I'm so glad you decided to bug me 🤗😘 You should give your eye a rest and go to audiobooks if it's bothering you. I know that would definitely be what I would do. Do you have any access to them? 6y
SailorMoon Hi!!! ❤ I tried them, but I can't keep focused 🤣 plus Italian audiobooks are nor really good (they are usually read in a plain voice), and we don't have a good selection of English ones on our apps! But if you can suggest a website I can dowload them from, I'll be glad to check them out!!! 6y
SailorMoon Thx! Unfortunately, this app has a different library in each Country, and I can't download the .com version... it automatically downloads itself in the .it version with just a few English audiobooks! But thanks anyway, I appreciate the thought!!! 🥰 6y
BeansPage @SailorMoon oh darn it that's the best company that I know of to get audiobooks from. If I find any other options I will definitely let you know though ok? 6y
SailorMoon @TheReadingMermaid thank you so much fo the thought! ❤ 6y
cjbooklover Just started The Help and halfway through Uglies 6y

Blackbird Brothers Karamazov and The Stranger Beside Me (Ted Bundy story) 😁 what are you reading? 6y
BeansPage @Bookjunkie57 I just saw your post. Those cake pops look yummy! 💖 6y
ShananigansReads Thank you! 6y
BeansPage @Blackbird oooo 😗 The stranger beside Me was so good! At this very moment I'm reading the tagged book. and while the writing is a bit choppy because it was translated from Indonesian I find the story very interesting so I am continuing to read. It's just really capturing my attention for some reason 😁 6y
kellyann28 Rise and Shine, Benedict Stone while I'm at work and then this at night: 6y
BeansPage @kellyann28 oh, how is Where the Crawdads Sing? I have heard a lot of good things about this book and I'm wondering if I should check into it. 6y
Blackbird @TheReadingMermaid ah I'm loving the book too (Bundy's). Have fun reading 😀 6y
BeansPage @Blackbird you too sweetie! Happy Wednesday 🤗 6y
kellyann28 @TheReadingMermaid I'm not too far into it yet (about 20%) but the storytelling and dialect are spot on and wonderful. I am really liking it so far! 6y
CaroPi I just finished a beautiful book. Highly recommended to everyone 6y
BeansPage @kellyann28 that sounds awesome. Let me know what you think when you're done would you please? 😃 6y
BeansPage @CaroPi OMG that sounds so adorable ❤️💕 6y
TheBookKeepers Dark Chains, Thunderhead, & just started Allegedly on audio 6y
kellyann28 Absolutely 💜💙❤ 6y
BeansPage @TheBookKeepers oooo 😗 Dark Chains sounds interesting. What do you think of it so far? It sounds like a heartwrencher 💔 6y
TheBookKeepers It definitely is an emotional story! It‘s a shorter read (230 pages) and self published by the author. I find her writing style a pleasure to read!! It‘s a memoir/motivational genre so I‘m real excited to see her move from victim into survivor in the second half of the book 🤞. About halfway through it now & so far it‘s a pick! 6y
BeansPage @TheBookKeepers stacked ✔️ 6y
RamsFan1963 Bug Jack Baron by Norman Spinrad, Damnation Island by Stacy Horn and listening to Mythology by Edith Hamilton. 6y
BeansPage @RamsFan1963 what are you doing while you're listening? It always amazes me what people do while they're listening to audiobooks 🤩 6y
RamsFan1963 @TheReadingMermaid I started with some laundry and dishes, now am about to walk to the mall for lunch and the bookstore (of course). I read Hamilton's Mythology years and years ago, but its wonderful to hear the stories told by a good narrator. 6y
BeansPage @RamsFan1963 amazing! I 💖 it! 6y
PagesByTheWater Struggling to get through Sarah Dessen‘s This Lullaby 6y
BeansPage @PagesByTheWater why struggling? 6y
IamIamIam Wayside School is Falling Down, trying to get into Fruit of the Drunken Tree on audio and my boyfriend, 6y
BeansPage @IamIamIam fruit of the drunken tree sounds interesting. Are you struggling with this one? If so is it the writing style? It sounds like a heavy read. 6y
IamIamIam @TheReadingMermaid I'm just about an hour in and it's not terribly hard to get through, but my daughter's been home sick so I'm hesitant to listen to it with her around. I find books with Spanish in them hard on audio because I can't switch gears that fast and I don't understand Spanish as well as I think I do! Lol, I speak Taco Bell more than Spanish... 6y
BeansPage @IamIamIam lmao "I speak Taco Bell" ??? on a serious note I'm sorry that your daughter is home sick. I hope that she feels better soon. And I can totally understand not wanting to read an audiobook like that around her. Like I said it seems like a very heavy read. 6y
IamIamIam @TheReadingMermaid Aww, thanks! 1st grade Creeping Crud is for real!!! I saw the list @LibrarianRyan posted for the Litsy Awards & realized I don't read enough popular fiction. Lol, trying to jump right in. Usually my heavy reads involve WWII and the holocaust. I need to get out of my uncomfortable story comfort zone. 6y
BeansPage @IamIamIam same. I read a lot about World War II myself. It was a very interesting and yet very sad point in history in a lot of different ways. I tend to not read a lot of popular fiction because I find that most books are overrated IMPO. But you are right we need to move out of our comfort zones once in awhile 🤪 6y
PagesByTheWater @TheReadingMermaid I don‘t like the MC. Honestly the book could be better improved if it was written from the love interests POV instead 6y
BeansPage @PagesByTheWater oh no! That sucks I'm sorry hon. ☹️ 6y
InkedBookworm13 I'm reading Legendary and listening to It. I have a 1 and 1/2 hour round trip commute (if no traffic) to school 4 times a week, so I like knocking out Stephen King's bigger books this way. 6y
BeansPage @LokiDokey what a fabulous way to read Stephen King! 😍 6y
bookswithbren The Dairy of a Bookseller 😊 6y
BeansPage @tinytreeleaf oooooo 😗 how is that one so far? 6y
bookswithbren @TheReadingMermaid it's a very fun read 😀 I haven't gotten to far into it, only in the month of May, but it has me bursting with laughter at times. 6y
MsLeah8417 “If You Come Softly” by Jacqueline Woodson 6y
BeansPage @MsLeah8417 oh my gosh that sounds so cute! How is it so far? 6y
BeansPage @Soubhiville that sounds fascinating. I may have to pick this one up. How are you liking it so far? 6y
Soubhiville About halfway through and it‘s good! There are typos, hopefully they‘ll be fixed before it gets published in May. I saw that you didn‘t like The Air You Breathe... I loved it... would you be interested in trading this book for that one after I finish it (if you still have it that is...) 6y
BeansPage @Soubhiville sure I would! That sounds like an excellent idea. Yeah that book just wasn't for me unfortunately. But I can definitely see why so many people loved it. It just failed to capture my attention. 6y
Soubhiville Yay! If you want to wait to decide for sure until I review this, I‘ll tag you in the review. Although since I 5 starred TAYB maybe you don‘t want to go by my opinion 🤣. Either way, you can email me at magicbelly (at) gmail.com 😊 6y
BeansPage @Soubhiville lol nah I'll trade with you for sure. Just tag me in the review let me know when you're done 🤗 6y

BeansPage @Soubhiville no, thank you! 💖 6y
SilversReviews I am reading WE HOPE FOR BETTER THINGS. I am enjoying it. 6y
BeansPage @SilversReviews that sounds like a really really good book! 6y
SilversReviews @TheReadingMermaid It is good. Thanks for commenting. It is a debut too. 😍 (edited) 6y
BeansPage @SilversReviews Wow that's impressive. And you are most welcome sweetheart, anytime 💖 6y

BeansPage @Jee_HookedOnBookz I'm actually not finished just yet. But I will let you know when I am 😊 6y
Jee_HookedOnBookz @TheReadingMermaid yay! OK! Tq! ❤️ 6y
MsLeah8417 @TheReadingMermaid: If You Come Softly is far from cute. It is heartbreaking and timely. I highly suggest you read it. 6y
BeansPage @MsLeah8417 oh really? I just looked at the synopsis and found it very intriguing is all. I have stacked the book though. It does seem like a very good one. Should I get out my box of tissues when I read it? 😢 6y

RamsFan1963 Half way through Star Surgeon by James White, last 100 pages of The Rise and Fall of The Dinosaurs, and a small dent made in Breakfast with Einstein. Off today and tomorrow, goal is to finish all 3 by Wednesday. 6y
BeansPage @RamsFan1963 how is The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs? It's on my TBR list. 6y
RamsFan1963 @TheReadingMermaid Its very interesting, well researched and detailed. I was worried it might be dry, as lots of science books are, but by combining his personal experiences as a paleontologist with the scientific facts, it made for compelling reading. 6y
BeansPage @RamsFan1963 thank you that is awesome to know! 😘 6y
Andrew65 Finished off The Ninth Step by Mark Dawson (read 55% of the book), read all of Sunday Morning Coming Down by Nicci French, Read first 37% of Lillian Boxfish takes a Walk, first 10% of Us Against You by Fredrick Backman and first 17% of The Hermitage by L J Ross. No Readathon but still a busy reading weekend. (edited) 6y
Lynnsoprano Didn‘t get any reading done. Between just wanting to sleep because a cold was making me feel miserable and having our 4yo grandson with us, it was not a bookish weekend. But I‘m back to The Art of Hearing Heartbeats today, and loving it. 6y
Lynnsoprano @inthegreensandblues Isn‘t Lady Darby great? 6y
BeansPage @Lynnsoprano sorry this weekend wasn't the greatest for you but hopefully you can get back on the horse and it'll be great. Sounds like you're already there 🤗 6y
Ashley_Nicoletto I finished The Incendiaries, My Sister, The Serial Killer and Rosewater. 6y
inthegreensandblues @Lynnsoprano I just love unconventional 19th century ladies! And I should have expected there would be some romance but I didn't know going in.. and that part is 👍too. 😄 Glad you are starting to feel better today! 6y
ravenlee I read...nothing! Busy weekend taking the kiddo, the hubby, and his brother for a Polar Express train trip (with an almost 3-hour drive each way) and then the Nutcracker ballet the next day. But I finished my current read this afternoon! 6y
