My gosh, this was so great. Jack Torrence‘s descent into madness is terrifying and so are the gigantic hedge animals. Danny Torrence is a great character, far more interesting in the book vs the movie. Fantastic backstories in here that we never see on screen. A haunted hotel, alcoholism, and cabin fever are a terrible combination. Y‘all are right, Stephen King really must be the best.

I grew up on The Shining movie. I‘ve seen it a billion times. So I‘m blown away by the differences in the book, just how much more to the story there is in almost every way. I should have expected this, but I still can‘t get over how much bigger the book is.

I can‘t believe how different this was from the movie! I‘ve watched the movie so many times but this was my first time reading it and I loved it!! Very creepy and of course well written.

Jack Torrance is the first #writer that comes to mind for today‘s prompt. One of my favorite Stephen King novels!

October had only one bingo, not as good as last month. I struggled with some of the books on my list. I had 2 DNF‘s on here, and 2 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ reads. I am adding more audio to next months list. #bookspinbingo

I haven‘t read that many of King‘s books, but this one might be my favorite so far or very near the top of the list. I don‘t agree with Joey that this is a freezer book though. It is definitely creepy, but I wasn‘t ever really terrified.

I‘m also very pleased that I did not remember Joey spoiling the ending for Rachel in that Friends episode!!

3 days until Halloween! All work and no play means it's time to watch a movie! Is there an obscure horror movie you think is great that you'd recommend? (Always looking for suggestions.)

The Shining is one of my favorite of Stephen King‘s books. I love Jack‘s descent into madness, caused by the ghosts of the Overlook Hotel. This time around I decided to give the audiobook a go, my only complaint about Campbell Scott‘s narration is that he mispronounces Estes Park, he pronounces it Estees with a long e, versus the short e for an es sound. Still a great listen though. #Scarathlon2020 #TeamHarkness #AuthorAMonth #Screamathon +16 pts
