My gosh, this was so great. Jack Torrence‘s descent into madness is terrifying and so are the gigantic hedge animals. Danny Torrence is a great character, far more interesting in the book vs the movie. Fantastic backstories in here that we never see on screen. A haunted hotel, alcoholism, and cabin fever are a terrible combination. Y‘all are right, Stephen King really must be the best.
Up next in my #readingStephenKing project: Night Shift!!
I grew up on The Shining movie. I‘ve seen it a billion times. So I‘m blown away by the differences in the book, just how much more to the story there is in almost every way. I should have expected this, but I still can‘t get over how much bigger the book is.
I‘m reading it slow, taking it all in. #readingStephenKing
What did I think of the book? Well, it was hesitant. In the process of reading it, it seemed too progressive.
I have seen the movie but never read the book. Here we go!
#bookspin #doublespin #bookspinbingo
I disregarded all bedtimes and stay up until 3AM to finish The Shining. A very good book and much different than the movie. (But I couldn‘t get Jack‘s voice out of my head 😂) This was also my #doublespin book! And it‘s my January pick for #posedbythebook (mountain pose) with @AkashaVampie
#MotivationalMonday
I forgot to post this yesterday so we will call this #IforgotitwasMonday. Thanks for the tag @Mrs_B
1. Finish The Greatest Secret and move my bookcase back where it belongs.
2. I love to read in bed. It‘s so comfy and cozy.
3. I don‘t think there is a character similar to me.
#BFC21
My goals for February 2021. I‘m looking forward to a new month and new challenges.
4/5 - I really enjoyed it! I couldn‘t believe how different this was from the movie
1. The Shining (it was my first horror book & there‘s a callback in the Dark Tower series that links them, my favorite King series. Yes my way of cheating & answering twice)
2. Roland/Flagg
I could go on & on ... so many great books/protagonists and he writes some of my favorite antagonists. The Crimson King, Pennywise, the Overlook 😁

1. Read a book from my #bookspin list - focus on books I own and then make the hard decision to keep or rehome
2. Learn and master the mountain yoga pose as part of a book challenge - read The Shining (resort is in the mountains) and focus on tarot for spirituality
Thank you so much @wanderinglynn for hosting this challenge again. This 2021 I really want to focus on my health and soul. This challenge will help a lot.
And that‘s my Christmas #bookspin done! This book is always frightfully creepy and a dear favorite. It never ceases to give me the heebie jeebies. I wonder what Christmas at the Overlook would be like? 🤔
+31 for #teamreadnosedreindeer and #wintergames
A full weekend of quarantine = time to read as many books as possible. Good idea or bad idea to start the tagged? 🤔 Anyone up for a #keephannahsane Readathon this weekend? 😂😂
I can‘t believe how different this was from the movie! I‘ve watched the movie so many times but this was my first time reading it and I loved it!! Very creepy and of course well written.
Jack Torrance is the first #writer that comes to mind for today‘s prompt. One of my favorite Stephen King novels!
#ForeverNovember
A full list of titles for this months #bookspinbingo. This one has lots of audio, a couple of classics, and more. Can‘t wait to get started and see what I get for my #bookspin and #doublespin!!
October had only one bingo, not as good as last month. I struggled with some of the books on my list. I had 2 DNF‘s on here, and 2 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ reads. I am adding more audio to next months list. #bookspinbingo
I haven‘t read that many of King‘s books, but this one might be my favorite so far or very near the top of the list. I don‘t agree with Joey that this is a freezer book though. It is definitely creepy, but I wasn‘t ever really terrified.
I‘m also very pleased that I did not remember Joey spoiling the ending for Rachel in that Friends episode!!
#Screamathon #BookspinBingo
Didn‘t quite finish my last spooky read in October, but still a great read while enjoying a perfect beachy November 1.
Finishing up the horror marathon with The shining. Also watched 3 episodes of People Magazine Investigates and 2 episodes of medical detectives.

Nothing quite like a good book to keep you company while you code you life away. Got a solid 12 hours of listening in today and with #littenlisten #screamathon and #creaturefeaturathon that‘s an additional 360 pts for #teamharkness! @StayCurious
3 days until Halloween! All work and no play means it's time to watch a movie! Is there an obscure horror movie you think is great that you'd recommend? (Always looking for suggestions.)
The Shining is one of my favorite of Stephen King‘s books. I love Jack‘s descent into madness, caused by the ghosts of the Overlook Hotel. This time around I decided to give the audiobook a go, my only complaint about Campbell Scott‘s narration is that he mispronounces Estes Park, he pronounces it Estees with a long e, versus the short e for an es sound. Still a great listen though. #Scarathlon2020 #TeamHarkness #AuthorAMonth #Screamathon +16 pts
#TeamHarkness this is the final game for #Scarathlon2020! Have fun! First book to get us started: The Shining by Stephen King - and go!
Tonight‘s audio crafting. Decided to try my hand at lanyard making and make myself a beaded badge lanyard for work. I‘m really happy with how it turned out and can‘t wait to take it in a test run at work this weekend. #AudioCrafting #JewelryMaking #BeadedCrafts
One of 4 current books I am reading. My 4th Stephen King book, the second one that I have liked.
Big Jack Torrance and his Mini-Me!

😵📖 For now, I'm going with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I read about 50 pages and just couldn't get into it. Maybe listening to the audiobook will change my mind.
📖📍 I'd like to read The Shining in the Overlook Hotel.
🍫 Especially dark.

Thanks for the tag @Annie1215
This reminds me of Jack Torrance from The Shining.

Just wanted to share...what‘s a better movie snack than a charcuterie board, and what goes better with the shining than Halloween themed charcuterie!
Next up in my solo night in horror fest is one that I might actually enjoy after my run of low rent remakes. Never actually watched the Shining so let‘s see how this goes! I remember liking the book but thinking I imagined it would be better on film.

The past few years, I‘ve picked a Stephen King to read in October. I must say, I totally understand why Joey from Friends had to put his copy in the freezer...there were several times I needed to put it down for a bit! I‘d definitely recommend it and can‘t wait to read Doctor Sleep! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Oh, and this was chosen for my #doublespin so I‘m able to check it off! @TheAromaofBooks
I finally watched The Shining last night now that I‘ve read the book! Overall, it was a lot of fun!
6 pts. #scarathlon2020 #TeamHarkness
Here‘s my #BookSpinBingo board for October. Looking forward to getting a Bingo or two, and contributing to the scoreboard for #TeamHarkness and #Scarathlon2020 and #Screamathon2020 +1 pt
